Debbie knows that small businesses are the backbone of Michigan’s economy. As a result of her work, the Small Business Council of America presented her with its 2017 Special Congressional Achievement Award.

Michigan small businesses create the majority of new jobs in our state. As part of her Small Business tour across Michigan, Debbie has been inspired by meeting with hundreds of small business owners who are investing their hard work, money and ideas into making their businesses successful and supporting their local communities. As U.S. Senator, Debbie has cut red tape and taxes for small businesses and passed legislation to help them access the capital they need to expand and create new jobs.

As a senior member of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, Debbie made tax cuts for small businesses and manufacturers permanent in the tax code. She authored and passed legislation eliminating burdensome 1099 reporting regulations for Michigan’s small businesses. And she led Michigan’s bipartisan Congressional delegation review of Michigan’s military installations to help identify new opportunities for suppliers and small businesses to create Michigan defense jobs.
